With all this work I'll be doing on the car I want to get myself a workshop manual. Halfords have ordered a Haynes manual for me (but still no sign of it), are there any other manuals which are considered better? (I have a 90 Eunos). (11/99)
Why not get it from Amazon? But a far better manual is the official (UK) MX5 workshop manual - 30 odd quid from Mazda dealers - and you'll need it if you overhaul your own rear brake calipers. (Haynes say it shouldn't be done - rubbish) (11/99)
Mazda MX-5 Enthusiasts Manual ISBN 1901295257 (11/99)
Can anyone recommend a good MX-5 manual? Rod Grainger's 'The MX5 Enthusiast's workshop manual' looks good. It's on BOL at 18 pounds - anywhere know anywhere cheaper? (2/00)
Same price @ http://www.alphabetstreet.infront.co.uk They have a whole stack of other books on the MX-5 though, search for mx5 and mx-5 (2/00)
Amazon.co.uk have got the Haynes Manual for £9.85 plus 1.95 p+p on special offer. (2/00)
The Grainger book is better for DIY esp. early 1.6 models. Haynes manual covers US models only, and concentrates on a late 1.8 Mk1. Haynes of only real advantage for the wiring diagrams, and US/Canadian cars quite a bit different there from UK/Japanese cars. (2/00)
OK so whats the best book for a 1.8i 1995 UK spec MX-5 then? (2/00)
The current publication date for the Veloce 1.8 manual is the end of April this year. (2/00)

Just got this back from Veloce the publishers of the books, look like they are the same book

Hi there, Same book different covers to reflect the different markets. The MX-5 is called the Miata in the US and the Eunos Roadster in Japan. Hope this helps, Best regards, Kevin Quinn. (3/00)

If you search on amazon books under "Rod Grainger" not mx5, you get the US book (as well as the 1.8 uk) come up for 16 gbp is the us book the same as the uk book ?(3/00)
Looking at the amazon site, there's a US (miata/mx5) book and a uk one that just calls it mx5, are these books the same but under different covers ? the US one is on special offer for 16.99, uk one is 20.00 gbp is the uk one worth the extra dosh ? (3/00)
Can anyone with the US manual tell me whether it covers automatic transmission? I guess the UK one wouldn't. (3/00)
The Haynes one does - at least to the extent of saying (I paraphrase) "If it breaks, get someone else to fix it" But it does cover diagnosis and maintenance (3/00)
Roadster handbooks are available from a company called Import Handbooks. For details see my site http://freespace.virgin.net/mx5.mike/books.html (4/00)
I reckon I need to get one of these 'ere Mazda books, so I can read up on my little car a bit more and stop asking stoopid questions...... So what book is the best one for a completely new to Mazda's driver? I want something that can tell me how to do some of the more basic things and also tell me a bit about the history etc... (6/00)
Start with Mazda MX-5 Miata Renaissance Sportscar by Brian Long (Try Amazon) Actually, I think there are two versions, Mazda MX-5 and Mazda Miata, but they're exactly the same inside and as I remember the "Miata" title was a little cheaper! (6/00)
Details of most of the books available for your 5 can be found on my website (6/00)
Go to www.importhandbooks.co.uk you can buy one from there for about £20 or so. (8/00)
