The velcro'd bits near where the zip ends, on either side of my 1992 mk1 soft-top have come unstuck. The nice man at the garage tells me I don't need to stick 'em back on as they do nothing and will only peel off again, the velcro being stronger than the glue, apparently. I'd welcome any comments and suggestions. (8/00)
They're right; very hard to glue these back. If you're dextrous, you could stitich them back on. (8/00)
I have not actually worked out what these velcro bits do unless the held the plastic screen protector during shipping. Anyone any ideas ? (8/00)
Ours have fallen off and I agree they don't seem to do much. (8/00)
I've been saved by my Bostik Glue Gun many a time. There are at least two different glue sticks, one is clearer, and is stickier than the white general purpose ones. I use it to stick sticky velcro pads onto panels for a trade fair I go to, and they never fall off. (8/00)
The bits around the rear screen are for a protective sheet during shipping; its on one of the service bulletins on miata.net. I think the velcro bits in question are the ones at the side, where the zip tucks into. (8/00)
Mine have dropped off too, before I bought the car over two years ago - ' never got around to doing anything about it since they don't seem to be doing anything critical. (8/00)
Before I had the MKII hood put on my Roadster it had also lost all its Velcro, I bought some more to replace it but never got round to doing it. To be honest though in use I didn't notice they were missing. In fact I don't know what they do! (keep the window up while zipping? stop drafts?) I wouldn't worry about it. (8/00)
