I want a super light 5. I removed the front hooks, the spare and the passenger seat along with the sun-visors. I'm thinking about removing the top too, but then I'm gonna need a cover (I don't own a hardtop and not looking for one either) to keep the car dry while it's raining and standing still. Any ideas ? ? Moss sells a cockpit cover 236-375 but I think it's a nono when it's raining... a full cover looks kinda stupid to install every time I pull over, don't you think ? ? (3/00)
There's a guy in the US who has been slowly working on his 5 for years. He removes bits, drills bits, grinds bits, all sorts. I recently saw a message where he described how much unnecessary tape is wrapped around the wiring loom! (3/00)
Remove all the sound deadening stuff and as much trim as you can stand to be without - that stuff all weighs tons - and removing it will keep you busy for quite a while! Buy some ear-plugs! (3/00)
Remove rear tie-down hooks Replace driver seat with lightweight SPARCO racing seat Replace front lights with fixed lights, but then your car will look like a MkII ;-( Lose the car-jack and toolkit, replace with tire-repairspray, now your car looks like an Elise :-) (3/00)
