Ever since I've got my car back from MOT, the steering makes a graunching/groaning noise any time it's on or near to full lock. Does anyone know what this could be? It's fine most of the time, it's just noticeable when I'm parking. (6/00)
Power steering pump. Check the fluid level is ok (near the near side front light). (6/00)
Sorry. Should have mentioned that my car doesn't have power steering on it. (6/000
Catching mud flaps? (6/00)
As someone else said, could be the front flaps, or loose inner wing shields (can't think why they would suddenly do this unless someone has been poking around there). Worse case; worn front bearings, but this should have been picked up in the MOT. (6/00)

I get the same, but only if I am braking as well as turning. My servicing man replaced my front pads with some crappy pattern (sp?) pads i thought they were gonna be mazda pads but hey...(shouldn't have let him do something so easy really - thought he couldn't go wrong though).

Anyway if brake and turn at slow speeds the drag on the discs, or maybe the pads rattling in their seats makes an awful noise which sounds like a mechanical problem but isn't really.

I've learned to brake in a straight line :o) (6/00)

Could be loose inner wing shields. Certainly hope it's not wheel bearings because, as you say, that should have been picked up on the MOT and I can't afford it at the moment! Thanks for the help. I shall investigate further. (6/00)
I get this occasionally,on mine it is the inner tyre rubbing on the brake line. But I've put this down to having fitted stainless steel braided hoses (well worth £40 by the way), not quiet as flexible as the stock rubber ones and a bit longer so they bow inwards a bit more, plus I've got 15'' wheels. But exactly the same symptoms so may be worth a look. (6/00)
