I've just been out to my car- which has been standing on the drive since a (topless) run last Tuesday - to find the interior full of *black rain* !!

It's big drops of very black water on both seats and most noticeably on the alloy-look centre console. On drying it up, the paper towels turned as black as if you were applying some kind of 'back-to-black' stuff. Obviously it has dropped from inside the soft-top and drying that made the towels completely black. So what's caused it? My car stayed out all last winter without problems. The hood doesn't leak. It hasn't been particularly cold or wet since Tuesday ....... The only two things I can think of are that

(1) I treated the soft-top with a Halfords soft-top renovation kit last summer (but not on the inside!) and

(2) the passenger door had been left on its 'second click' -ie not fully shut - since Wednesday when I began to open it to get a de-icer out only to find the window frozen to the hood so I stopped, intending to close it properly when the ice had thawed - but I forgot.

Could that have caused excessive condensation - didn't look like much of a gap to me - or has the Halfords dye stuff migrated through to the insde of the hood fabric? (1/00)

I have the same problem. I also used The Halfords product in the summer. My car has been left out over the winter with only occasional use (once a fortnight to give it an hours drive). I also have had a fine mold develop on the roof lining, on cleaning this I became aware of the Black Rain. The car does appear to be retaining a lot of condensation although the roof is not obviously leaking. Any ideas on the best solution would be appreciated! (1/00)
