| Has anybody else with a Mk2 noticed the soft top
"chattering" when the weather is really cold? (1/00) |
| I've got the same problem - also in a bronze Mk2! It disappears
as the car warms up, so the answer is to move to a house with a
heated garage - or a warmer country! Either that or run the heater
for 10 minutes before driving! (1/00) |
| This appears to be expansion/contraction of the roof compound.
If the cars been sat in the cold and you turn the heater on it does
it for a while as the roof warms up. I find mine does it too when
I come off the motorway (120mph) and go onto an A road (50-60mph).
Presumably the speed supercools the roof and then slowing down warms
it up again. I find it continues when stationary with the engine
off which proves it's not a vibration. (1/00) |
| Since putting on my new MKII softtop I have noticed that the
hole thing bounces up and down (when down) more than my last top
did. It seems to do it more at the passenger side than the drivers
though, I noticed it because I could hear it, and then when I turned
around to look while going over bumps I could see the whole frame
bounce! Is this normal? Have I not done something? (I know this
is a case for using the hood cover, but I have been in MKII's before
and don't recall this happening? (7/00) |
| It happens on mine,(mk2 hood on mk2 car) especially on warm days
when the hood material is more flexible and when going over bumpy
roads at speed =:-o It's certainly more rattly than my previos mk1
hood, that needed serious provocation to bounce. (7/00) |
| No worries mine does all the time (7/00) |
