Can you remember when the rev limiter cuts in? More for "nice-to-know" reasons than anything else. (2/00)
Not sure but I think the needle got to about 7250 - 7500 but then the needle is moving quicker than the car as that was damned quick :) (2/00)
7250rpm (1600 but I think 1800 is the same) (2/00)
7250RPM on my Mk2 1.8. (2/00)
I would like to know if the limiter can be disconnected. On a run recently, with another 5 on my tail, I saw the needle at 8K. Due to the limiter that should be impossible. Since I have hit 7K a few times but never pushed it to 8K. I also remember someone on the list saying that the rev dial had a pin to stop the needle? (2/00)
It could be possible, if you downshift. The limiter only controls the input of the gas pedal. Not something you'd want to be doing regularly. (2/00)
The rev limiter is built into the ECU. It cannot be removed unless you have an aftrmarket ECU (unlikely). It is more likely you got your rev counter needle on in the wrong place as well. (2/00)
