| I have a 1990 mk1, and I noticed that my reverse lights have
stopped working. I checked the fuses by the footwell and they all
seem ok. I checked and replaced one of the bulbs in the lights (didnt
look at the other) I also checked the fuses in the engine bay, all
were ok. Has anyone ever experienced this before...? (12/99) |
| Probably the reversing light switch. It costs about 12 or so
from your friendly neighbourhood Mazda garage, and is straightforward
to fit assuming you can jack the car up and adequately support it
while fumbling around behind the exhaust pipe. There are instructions
on Miata.net, but I just paid a garage for the 30 min it took them
to do it instead.(12/99) |
| There is (was) a service note that the reversing light switch
can fail on these early cars. It happened to our first 1990 within
a few days of having it. (12/99) |
| Noticed a problem with my reversing lights this morning , When
I put the car in reverse the reversing lights dont always come on
!! Any ideas ?? is there a switch/contact I should check ?? (12/99) |
| I am told the reversing lights switch is prone to failure on early
Roadsters. I guess it is on the gear box somewhere. (12/99) |
| I've been having a problem with my reversing lights - they
don't come on. Check the fuses and bulbs - all ok, so I guess the
switch in gear box area is knackered??? is this easy to get to or
repair? (3/01) |
| Maybe it's jammed.... you can get to it to prise it away with
a flat head screw driver & spray wd40 all over it, you have to take
the center console apart to get to it though.... I've got a mail
somewhere about it... if you don't get any joy reply to me direct
and I will look for it... (3/01) |
| The switch is located on the gearbox extension, passenger side,
slightly above the middle, height wise. Could be faulty - but check
the wiring starting at the switch first. (3/01) |
| I have non-functioning reversing lights on my Roadster. They
have never worked and I'm wondering if the fog light swap (this
is a Mk 2) messed up the wiring. Or do Japanese models have non-functional
reversing lights? (3/01) |
| No - who ever did the conversion for UK spec has probably used
the reversing lights as fog lights. I thought however that ALL MK2
had the same rear tail lights, which is why they redesigned them
- so they rear light cluster could contain the fogs without being
in breach of legistalation for close proximity to brake lights.
Sounds very messed up personally. (3/01) |
| Well I've got the light cluster that was removed from the offside.
So now I have an offside cluster with a fog light and a nearside
cluster with a non-functional reverse light. Maybe there's only
one lead in a Japanese wiring loom - no I don't think I can let
myself believe that - to that light. Perhaps I should do some poking
about inside. (3/01) |
