Has anyone come across this before: my petrol cap has lost its springyness such that it's sometimes difficult to make it pop up. Is there any way of adjusting it ? Perhaps it just needs some lubrication somewhere ? (5/00)
I have just had a look at my fuel filler flap. It is held on with two screws at the hinge. Also on the hinge is a 'springy bit' (??). I guess you have broke or lost this bit. I don't know where you will get a replacement from though. (5/00)

I had this problem with my Eunos when I first got it, try this;

Lubricate any moving parts involved (including the pull wire mechanism 'thingy' - which incidentally may need moving onto the next 'thing' to make it pull that bit tighter).

Then; If you look right inside the filler area underneath the hinge is a metal 'thing' this is what springs the lid up when you pull the lever in the car, you should feel a slight resistance to it when you close the flap. If there is no resistance then bend this 'thing' upwards and it should make the lid pop up again.

Sorry my descriptions are a bit 'thingy' but I haven't a clue what the technical name is! (5/00)
