| I took my Mazda in to have a service yesterday
and this afternoon I have noticed oil on my drive. Is this the cause
of a dodgy mechanic or does this happen after a service? (6/00) |
| I have a leaking seal on my car near to the exhaust manifold.
I took it into my local dealer and they did the various checks and
I thought it was the head gasket but thankfully it wasn't! Its the
rocker gasket thats leaking which I'm due to replace. Wipe the area
with the oil and see if you can trace the drip/leak after a day
or so! (6/00) |

Even good mechanics can spill oil from the oil filter onto the
chassis frame underneath the engine, and it can take some time
to drip off there onto the ground. And they shouldn't do it really
- or if they do they should clean it up.
But they could have not tightened up the sump plug, or not replaced
the washer on the sump plug. Then you have cause to complain!

| It's probably just the small amount that can get caught in the
undertray when the filter is taken off. A quick blast up a convenient
motorway should blow most of it away. If it's still doing it after
a few days, go back to the dealer and have a moan. (6/00) |
| Chill out! It's usually oil that gets caught on the plastic tray
underneath the car, it will go after a couple of drips! (6/00) |
| Not normal! Sound like you should be revisiting the garage. Likely
to be drain plug washer not being replaced and perished or something
of that ilk. Shouldn't be that serious from a service as only oily
bits touched are filter and drainplug. So should only be either
of the the seals there. (6/00) |
