| Being in Australia my '91 MX5 is set to run on 91Ron unleaded petrol. Would I get any performance benefit out of running it on 95Ron Premium Unleaded, and if so what would I have to do to the tuning etc? (8/00) |

Mines in Oz too. You will definitely get benefit from premium from premium unleaded. Optimax is best. Run your timing up around 14 degrees. To actually feel the benefit run your tank down to as close to fumes as you can then fill. Filling from half full or mixing doesn't allow one to feel the actual difference because of the dilution effect. If you keep your foot off the loud pedal you will even get better economy. (Who does?? Something you will notice only on a trip I guess) If you have the top down you may even hear the exhaust note change as the regular unleaded is purged from the lines. (8/00) |
