| One thing I have heard, at least for Northern Ireland, is that
MOT stations have been instructed to be more stringent with imports.
They will now fail a car without illuminated _kph_ markings (thats
right. Apparently many replacement dials can't give you both illuminated
kph and mph) (11/99) |
| Just found out my MOT runs out on Monday. I have a 1990 Eunos
and I was wondering if it will fail as it still has the speedo in
km only. It did have an MOT when I bought it (the first it had in
this country), but I'm not convinced this is anything to go by.
If it does have to have a mph speedo then where can I get one fast(and
cheap)? Is there anything else I should check for before I take
it in? (5/00) |
| The speedo in KM will still pass the MOT. MPH speedos are only
needed for the more stringent SVA test.
Although KPH speedos are effectively illegal, this is not on the
MOT checklist. (5/00) |
| I've just gone thro' the import process (see http://g6ell.homestead.com)
and mine passed without changing the speedo. There's a link at the
end of the story for Lockwood who do really good replacement speedo
facia's which I've now bought for mine. (5/00) |
| It's not an MoT requirement that you have a speedo marked in Mph.
Ask them to show you the specific test item in the manual if they
try to tell you it has to have one - I assure you - they won't be
able to! (AFAIK!) (5/00) |
