Those of us who drive Eunoses know that,
like Jeffrey Archer, we have a wicked little secret ..... we haven't
got a fuel nozzle restrictor fitted to stop nasty killer leaded
gas getting into our tanks (I hope no-one's been goody-goody enough
to put one in ;o)
Anyway a question: Now that leaded's almost a thing of the
past, if we accidently squirt the new-fangled LRP 4-star into
our tanks by mistake will we still be doing damage to our loved
one?(11/99)

| I was under the impression that leaded fuel only destroyed
the cat and if you did not have a cat you could use leaded fuel.
I have the same question, can you use LRP with a cat or without? |
| Basically, no you won't, any damage that might become apparrant
with this stuff would take some time to damage the engine, but of
course the bets way to avoid anything is not to do it.(11/99) |
| I don't know, but I do have a tale....a friend's daughter has
an MGB (turbo of course). Has run great for the couple of years
she has had it. After three weeks of LRP, the head was shafted -
a right mess. Anyone with cars out there that require leaded - be
careful with LRP, don't believe the hype. |
| You only have to have a fuel nozzle restrictor if you have to
have a cat - ie first reg after 1/8/92. Cars registered after then
should fail the MoT without - if the tester looked. LRP will poison
cats - it will depend on the additive (there are potentially several
in use and they will probably change as they develop standards -
at present there are none - and experience) how quickly and how
badly. In general, it won't be as bad as leaded petrol. Don't use
LRP in a '5 - even if you haven't got a cat. 95 unleaded is cheaper
- well, less expensive :-( |
