My hood has been down for the last week with Oris windstop in place. Car goes in the garage at night so, to prevent cat damage and hairy-go-wobbly invasion, I've zipped up window and put hood up but left Oris on. What I didn't realise was, as zipping and unzipping round the Oris is a bit tricky, I've been using a funny angle and as a consequence the teeth have got distorted. I should have known when the tag thingy broke off but I just replaced it with a rather fetching plastic cable tie. Anyway, Sunday morning, beautiful day ........ shock! horror! the window won't unzip. I mean, if you can't unzip on a Sunday morning, life ain't worth living ;-o

Finally managed to unzip but took forever and now I'm scared to zip up again. I shall be removing the Oris before zipping in future (and advise others to do likewise) but I'm not sure what to do about the gappy zip. Are they tricky / expensive to replace ? or could I get it realigned somewhere. (3/00)

I have an Oris fitted to my car (been fitted almost continuously for over a year) and don't have any real problems zipping/unzipping the window. Are you sure you have the Oris fitted correctly? It should be fitted with the pivot bolts at the back so that the mesh & rubber surround (take a look - you'll see what I mean) are rear-facing. Fitted like this, the top of the windblocker is slightly forward and does not impede the zip (though it's still tricky trying to hold up the plastic window while trying to zip-up). (3/00)
You could try rubbing a soft (8B) pencil over the zip, the graphite should make it easier to operate. (3/00)
Don't Panic! Go to your DIY store and spend 75p (or something) on a 1m (already cut) length of pipe insulation. This should be around 50mm (or thicker) in diameter. Its made of a foam material. Go home, place foamy tubey thingy against plastic window towards the bottom & open roof. No need to undo zip. We have been doing this for 2 years with no ill-effects on plastic window. No creases, damage etc. You may not be able to use the hood boot, but we aint got one anyway. Much faster putting roof up in the rain too! (3/00)
Cured my gappy zip by gently squeezing top to bottom of both sides of pull with pliers. Alternatively a pull is available as a spare (3/00)
