I wonder if anyone has had this same kind of a problem. When
the engine (1.6 Sebring supercharged) is cold (right after startup)
it doesn't want to rev. When the throttle is pushed a little too
fast the engine wants to die and it starts to hick and cough before
it actually revs up. There is also lack of power when cold . I
have to rev the engine quite high and release the clutch very
gently or otherwise the engine will die.
On the other hand ; it idles perfectly when cold.Things start
to improve after warm-up , but there's always that hesitation
when pushing the throttle too fast ; the engine doesn't respond
good to throttle input.
There is also hesitation when cruising at constant speed;
it feels like some kind of jerking ; every few seconds it accellerates
a little and then decellerates a little. I checked out the error
codes and there were 2 errors (03=crank-anle sensor and 08=air
volume meter) . I then cleared these errors by disconnecting the
battery for a while and thereafter I went for a test drive. I
Rechecked for errors after the drive and there were no errors
reported.
I'm using 98 RON gas and changed the fuel filter 10 K miles
ago. I have installed new spark plugs (colder heat range) and
plug wires are something like 15K miles old. I checked for air
leaks with carburettor cleaner spray and no leaks. What the !@?!
is wrong. Dirty fuel filter (so soon!) , bad fuel pump, bad ignition
wires (so soon), bad lamda sensor, bad fuel injector ???? At the
Mazda dealership they also don't know what's wrong. Anyone have
any suggestions ??? (11/99)
