My 1995 1.8 roadster exhaust needs a new silencer section - the weld where the pipe joins the silencer on the engine side has broken. Have any roadster owners out there had experience of replacement exhausts for their imported models? Were there any problems? Was the replacement section exactly the same as the UK spec five's? Depends on whether the exhaust was a standard fit; a lot on Roadsters aren't. If the exhaust has gone here and you can't get buy by getting it welded up, its likely that the rest of the systme is on the way out.

If standard, no reason why the exhaust would not fit. BBR stated to me that dimensionally, the Roadster exhaust is identical to that found on UK MX5's. However convincing a garage of this is another matter. Most Kwikfit type enterprises I tried when mine went wouldn't quote on a replacement. You might also have problems with a Mazda dealer being convinced.

In my case, when the mid section went, I went for the full stainless steel system. The Fujitsubo back box that came off the car, although it looked superficially ok, after a quick wire brush, holes started appearing around the tail pipe. You might find after replacing the mid section, the back box will soon go, so the overall cost will go up. (1/00)
