| Those friendly people at a Mazda garage made me
laugh yesterday. I asked them where the engine number was on my
'5 as I was registering it. They asked if it was Japanese, I said
yes, and they said "that's the trouble with these Japanese Eunos's
- they have the engine number under the cylinder head so you have
to take the head off to read it. That's why we don't like them 'cos
it's not easy to see if the engine number is correct or if the cars
been involved in an accident or even written off " All I wanted
was to know where to look 'cos I knew you had to sand the block
to see it. (5/00) |
| Where is the engine number then because I could not find it? (5/00) |

As you look at the engine from the front of the car it's at the
back left side. That's the drivers side near the bulkhead, above
where the gearbox joins and under the end of the intake manifold.
You will find a small flat on the engine where it meets the cylinder
head which sticks out towards the drivers side of the car. You
have to have double jointed wrists but you have to sand this flat
to remove the corrosion. A number will appear on the flat edge
in the following format.
B6
123456 (5/00)
|
| Note this is 1.6 only..... 1.8 is on the right of engine .. right
at the back under the dip stick. (5/00) |
