| Coolant (drain,flush,refill) : The (Mazda) garage
were I have some maintenance done advised against replacing the
coolant on an older car (92). Possible danger for leaks on waterpump,
radiator. What is your view on this ? (1/00) |
| Fact is - coolant needs replacing - it gradually loses its effectiveness
(including its anti-corrosion properties), and it should be replaced
at least every two years. If it's replaced regularly, the cooling
system will stay clean and the coolant will stay blue/green rather
than murky brown. If the cooling sytem is in good condition, it
won't cause leaks. If it does (and it might) it's because there
was a latent fault and that needs fixing anyway. I replace mine
- and my car is 10+ years old. No probs. (1/00) |
