| My silver Mx (MkII 1.8iS) seems to have changed
colour on the lower part of the body where there is some sort of
protector strip. The strip seems to have acquired a yellowish tinge
- Any idea what has caused this? It's washed regularly with Autoglym
car wash and has been polished once (6+ months ago) with Autoglym
polish. Occasionally attacked with Autoglym Tar Remover (like today).

| A friend with a silver MK2 was told by a mazda shop
that this tends to happen especially on silver. I thought he was
just trying to justify a bad paint-job on the side sills that looked
a different colour. I guess he was telling the truth :(( (6/01) |

Nothing conclusive there though. (6/01) |
| Just had another thought about this. The centre caps of a number
of MK2's have suffered the same problem, going yellow over time,
some within months. It is possible that is a generic problem with
the silver paint they are using reacting with the materials it is
applied to. The centre caps are onto plastic and the lower sills
of the car have a protective plastic/mastic stuff on them which
gives that mottled/stimpled effect... (6/01) |
| Mazda shop claimed that this is common to silver and white cars.
So it is a problem on lighter colours. (6/01) |
