On these cold mornings the car is not starting very well. It takes a long time to get going and is Very 'chuggy'? is this just the cold or a symptom of something? (12/99)
Check out the air bypass valve on top of the inlet manifold and it's controller under the throttle body. When the engine is hot pull the plug off the connection below, R below the throttle body position sensor. The engine speed should rise to 12-1500 RPM. If it doesn't it indicates a fault. (12/99)

On cold days like these my car suffers from a wobbly idle just after starting for perhaps 30 seconds. Idle goes from 600 - 1200 - 600rpm about every 2 seconds. Anyone with a sebring get this? Is it the infamous idle speed screw needing a tweak? Didn't get this before I had the blower installed I don't think.... (12/99)

Is it a 1.8? There's a line from the back of the air filter to the supercharger. This allows extra idle air to bypass the AFM. I'm told this sometimes need restricting, or even clamping shut, on 1.8s. Either use a cable tie or a fish tank air line clamp. You can instead plug the holes at both ends and uncap the adjustment screw on the air flow meter. There's a metal cap over the screw and you need to pierce this and then use a self tap screw to remove the cap. You can then freely adjust bypass air. I'm told the screw is capped for some emissions rules reason.

It's also worth doing the TEN/Gnd thing and adjusting the idle mix screw on the throttle body to get the idle the same with the wire both fitted and absent. Only do this with the engine toasty warm - a 45 minute drive is better than a 15 minute one.

My 1.6 has *perfect* idle with the Sebring. I'm really impressed as I thought maybe the idle and the closed/open transition of the throttle would be rough, but it's all perfect. (12/99)
