Has anyone fitted a new cig lighter to a mk1 or 91 Eunos? If so is it difficult i.e. do I have to get behind the plastic dash trim, and if so how do I go about that? (3/01)

Yes, fitted a new one to a Mk1, I don't use them but it was missing the handle bit and I didn't like hole that was there without the hot handle bit. Quite easy really. Hardest thing is getting the panel loose from under the steering column. Remove the two screws and fiddle until it comes off. Once you've done that you can reach around behind the cig lighter, unplug the cable and wiggle the entire mounting, pushing it all out of the front. It's then fairly easy to push in the new unit. I seem to remember there's a little bit of a trick with the green plastic light surround, I did it wrong first time and had to take it out again. There is an orientation that causes the unit not to fit in correctly. (3/01)

Does the grean surround of the OEM cigarette lighter illuminate with the other back lights ? Mine does not so maybe this is something to look into the weekend... (3/01)

No there is no illumination function for that on a 5, well not on the ones I've seen anyhow. (3/01)
