I attempted to install the bonnet lift kit from Moss on Saturday. There is a section in the instructions that says something like 'All Post '91 Miata's have a large hole on the right hand side of the firewall when viewed from the front'. Errr, I've got a Wiper motor there on my '93 Eunos, and in the Haynes manual. Has anybody installed this on the left hand side of the firewall ? (I'll have to drill a large hole) Just wondered if there would be any problems etc. before I go ahead. (2/01)
Drill the hole in the drivers side, you shouldn't have a problem. Make sure it's a good fit diameter wise to the bolt going in. FWIW I would keep an additional method for propping up the hood handy. Otherwise, if it is a windy day, the hood can come down on your head, especially if you are already parked on a hill (don't ask how I know this). When I get around to it I'm going to put the original hood prop back to do just this. (2/01)
I fitted mine to the lower right (looking in to the car) bolt of the washer motor. (2/01)
I don't know just how the Moss kit fits, but I would guess that it's similar (if not identical) to the PBC one I have on my car. I (and many other people since) have used one of the wiper motor mounts for the purpose of mounting the prop. It requires removing the existing bolt, and drilling the hole in the firewall out until it's big enough to take the lift kit bracket bolt. (2/01)
