| I am wanting to get the mazda badge off the back of my miata.
Is the thing just glued on or bolted? What would be the best way
to get this off with out any damage to the paint/car? Then, once
I get this off, I have another badge I want to put on in the mazda
badge's place. It has what looks to be like some sticky stuff on
the back side of it. Is that all the adhesive I need? (12/99) |
| The mazda badge is 'welded' on in 2 spots, so if you take it
off, it'll leave 2 nasty marks. The miata badge is just glued on
with double sided tape. That one can be taken of without problems.
What you could do is to take both badges off and to put the miata
badge back on where the mazda badge used to be. Use automotive double
sided tape. Did it on my car over a year ago. Badge is still rock
solid in place. I have a pic of it on http://saturn.spaceports.com/~miata/_borders/klein_car_rear.jpg
if you're interested. I did put a turbo badge back on afterwards...could
have just left the miata badge where is was...oh well :) (12/99) |
| Does anyone know where I can get a set of Eunos Roadster badges
(Eunos symbol on bonnet, 'Roadster' and 'Eunos' on back) from? (7/00) |
| Try Powerdrift. They probably have
the contacts to be able to order replacements for you. (7/00) |
| Some git has nicked the Mazda badge from the bonnet of my Mk2,
so I'm left with a nice little scrape in the paint (probably caused
by a screwdriver) and some glue in the shape of the Mazda logo.
I'm waiting for local dealer to get me a replacement badge and touch-up
paint, but I wondered if any of you might be able to suggest the
best way to remove the glue from the bonnet without causing too
much damage? (8/00) |
| A little wd40, keeping it well washed with water? (8/00) |
| Part number for Mk2 nose badge is NC10-51-731 I think they are
about £12. The holes are in a different place, but it is possible
to re-drill them: First lay a piece of plastic or grease proof paper
over the holes in your cone and push a pencil or whatever through
the holes. Gently push new badge against fairly thick card so that
prongs make mark in it. Drill holes in the card where the marks
are with a drill the same size as prongs. Push badge prongs through
holes in card and draw around the badge. Remove badge and lay plastic/grease
proof over card so that the holes that represent the holes are over
the V of the outline of new badge. Make sure they are central and
mark with a pencil. Drill through these pencil marks. I used 2 pop
rivets pushed through the card and into the holes in the nose. This
holds the card in place and you then drill through the holes in
the card that took the prongs of the new badge. If you have done
it carefully, the V of the new badge will cover the original holes.
Same can be done to replace Eunos badge. (8/00) |
| How much is the new badge? I fancy swapping my Eunos 'toliet
seat' badge for the mazda (M) badge to match my Mk2 wheels. It is
quite high on my list of pointless mods :-) (8/00) |

I've heard that bits like these are on Mazda's no-no list for
Roadster owners, along with rear number plate surrounds, Uk speedos,
wheel centres etc.
Eunos toilet seat badge; do you mean you have the earlier type
Mazda badge on.. Probably get it cheaper and more easily via someone
like www.mazdastuff.com. They don't have any hangups about UK
vs Jap market cars.... (8/00)
