| Out of interest I thought the 10AE came with
Bilsteins, did it? I am pretty sure that the Sport
I saw did not have yellow bilsteins. Also if anyone knows did the
10AE have a struct tower bar? (11/99) |
| My 10AE came with a Strut Brace... (11/99) |
| Does that mean you have a shorter intake like the US cars, and
if not how did they fit the struct brace? (11/99) |
| No the brace is designed to not get in the way, so it still has
the euro intake. My car has the shofter US intake becasue the DalerAlt
strut bar does get in the way. (11/99) |
| Dunno about this one. The suspension is certainly a lot firmer
than the Mark 1 1.8iS I had. (11/99) |
| Yes the 10AE has Bilsteins and a strut tower bar. (11/99) |
| Are you sure? I was fairly certain that the Sport
and Anniversary editions had uprated suspension over the standard
MX-5. The 1.8iS that I test drove definately had a different ride
to the 10AE I bought.. The 10AE has a much stiffer setup due to
the Bilstein suspension that is fitted instead of the standard shocks.
This is even mentioned in the 10AE brochure and commented on in
nearly all the reviews of the 10AE in the press.. (11/99) |

The last of the special edition Mk 1's were the "Classic" and
the "Berkeley", both of which were on sale at the start of 1998.
My car was also registered in February 1998 and was one of the
first Berkeleys to actually leave the showroom. At the same time,
standard model MX5's were also available, though these were not
newly imported but were sold from remaining stock (according to
my dealer). The only cars being imported at that time were the
new stock of Mk2's.
I was told by the dealer that the last UK spec Mk1's to roll
off the production lines were the Classics and then the Berkeleys
though I don't know where he got that info or whether it was actually
true. Yes these cars could well have been made to sell off old
stock of option parts but I doubt this is the case as they aren't
actually that well spec'ed. They did have PS but neither model
came with electric windows, air-con or hard-top. What they did
have was model specific interiors, for example the Berkeley had
two-tone black/grey leather seats and matching door panels as
well as a chrome rear brace. (2/00)
